The Association for Emerging Professionals is an ambitious and creative new youth and young adult membership organization being developed by Anam Duan. The AEP meets the challenges and addresses the needs of today’s youth, businesses, and sustainable urban and rural communities. AEP combines youth development with workforce development, sustainable business development and sustainable community development.

The goal of the Association for Emerging Professionals is to develop the capacity of young members to successfully assume leadership roles in sustainable business, public service, and entrepreneurship, while maintaining members’ healthy balance of involvement in work life, personal life, civic life, and family life.

mentors
AEP mentors are adult professionals recruited from businesses and public agencies who have a passion for working with youth. Mentors receive training in youth work and mentoring, and offer guidance to AEP chapters. Mentors also have the opportunity to participate in other chapter events, activities, and service projects. Chapters will make use of their mentors’ professional training and experience to contribute in any way possible to the development of the chapter. When AEP members “graduate” from regular membership, they are invited to continue affiliation as AEP alumni members and serve as an adult mentor.

Local AEP member chapters are lead by capable young leaders under an approved charter, and are supported by professional and volunteer adult staff who provide oversight, advisement, and support. AEP chapters receive support from a community advisory board and adult mentors. Chapters create special projects or initiatives based on the resources, capacity, and interests of the members. Chapters activities may include: regular meetings, trainings, community service projects, social activities, mentoring, civic recognition ceremonies and events, micro-enterprise, and public relations. AEP chapters may be organized in the community, on high schools campuses, or on university or community college campuses.
